Animal Farm Review

'Our lives are miserable, laborious and short'
The animals of Manor Farm are fed up with their short boring lives but don't know how to change things. So when old pig Major holds a meeting in the barn, speaking of free futures and long happy lives, the animals are over-joyed. Together the animals manage to over throw their drunk master, Mr Jones, and it looks like their free future is very close. However, when old major dies peacefully in his sleep one night, things start to change on the farm. Two of the cleverest pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, decide to take control of the newly named 'Animal Farm', taking care of food rations and harvest. Everything goes well at first until the pigs announce that any milk produced by the cows or apples from the trees will be taken to the pig's study. From then on both pigs become more and more powerful but Napoleon decides he wants to rule on his own. Snowball is chased out of the farm by a pack of blood thirsty dogs that napoleon has secretly been raising. The other animals are shocked but Napoleon's servant Squealer tells them that snowball had been betraying them the whole time. Could this be true? Squealer tells them that their lives will be better now that the trator Snowball is gone and the animals are relieved. But they don't know that under dictator Napoleon's rule their lives could once again become miserable, labourious and short, filled with horrors caused by the greediness of the pigs. Could it be the worshipped Napoleon that is the real trator out of all the animals.

Animal Farm was writen by George Orwell and published in 1945. It is a political fable set in a   farmyard but based on Stalin's betrayal of the Russian Revolution, Stalin being Napoleon. It is a novel which is bound to make you realise how violent and inhuman people can be when greediness and power takes over them. Animal Farm is also sure to bring you to tears at some points, i recommend this book to any one over the age of 13- i don't think anyone younger would understand some parts of the book- and to anyone that likes a book where you have to bring together different points to make sense of the whole thing.
I would give this book 4/5 (5 being highest)

My Christmas Holidays

In the Christmas Holidays i did lots of great things. On Christmas eve we went to a lovely Christingle service where we all got an orange with lots of sweets and marshmallows on cocktail sticks stuck in it. Unfortuneately, my sweets got wax all  over them when we light the candle!
On Christmas day my sister and me got up early and went to open our presents. I got lots of fab things including £35 worth of book vouchers, a Wii with mario karts and just dance, a cupcake making set and cool PJ's! Later on we had a big Christmas lunch and after that, we watched a film and the Queen's speech. In the evening, we watched  the doctor who Christmas special and then the Stictly come dancing Christmas special too.
On boxing day, we went for a long walk at the beach eventhough it was very cold! Later that evening we watched The Confessions of a Shopaholic and The Borrowers on TV while trying to complete an 1000 piece I love Christmas Puzzle!
The next day, we went rollerskating at colchester's rollerworld which is meant to be 'Europe's finest roller skating rink'. We had a great time untill my sister katie fell over and factured her wrist!
On New Years Eve we stayed at home and played a big game of monopoly and all put on face packs. I must have left mine on a bit too long because my face was bright pink for a whole day afterwards!

My October Half Term

In the holidays, i did lots of fun things but of them all my favourite was going to see a Michael Jackson tribute concert. Michael Jackson is my favourite singer and going to see the tribute concert was one best things I've ever done. I went to the tribute with my Sister, Dad, his girlfriend, and her daughter Katy. We are all big Michael Jackson fans but some of the people there absolutely worshipped him! The person in front of me had a life size picture of his face tattooed on their back! There was also a little boy dressed in a sparkly M.J outfit (complete with white glove!) he looked just like young Jacko! The show started with one of Michael's latest songs 'Jam' and we were all shocked by the blindingly bright light and loud bang that announced the start of the song. 'Jam' was followed by 'Smooth Criminal' which i personally thought was one of his best dances. Michael Jackson was played by the hugely talented Amir Sharma who sang, danced and even looked like M.J. When Amir really started to relax, you got the feeling that the magic of Michael Jackson was in the room. One of the songs i really enjoyed was 'Thriller' because it was really funny when the backing dancers came on as zombies and carried Amir away! Take a look at Michael Jackson's real video for 'Thriller' at the bottom of this post... Hope it doesn't scare you too much!!!
Although i enjoyed 'Thriller', my favourite song of the night was 'Billy Jean' because when he sang it, he sounded just like Michael Jackson and he performed it with a strong passion which had the audience singing along by the end of the song. I also liked this part of the show because it was the only song in which he danced M.J's signature move- the Moonwalk.

I also liked his performance for ‘smooth criminal’ because the dance moves were just how Michael Jackson does them in his music video for the song. Take a look at his awesome moves yourself in this music video...

Two other highlights of my holiday were visiting Kings Lynn with my grandparents and going to Holkham beach. I went to Holkham with my Mum, sister, and god mother Claudette. It was really nice going out with Claudette because we hardly ever see her anymore. We arrived in Holkham at around 10:00am and treated ourselves to cream tea at a pretty little cafe. Then we strolled down to the beach and continued walking till we reached Wells. When we finally got into the town, my feet ached so much that every step felt like i was standing on glass! After looking around the shops and having some lunch, we waited by the bus stop for the 'coasthopper' which would take us back to the car. We went to kings Lynn on the Wednesday on the second week of half term. We started our trip by going to the old gaol house where we learnt lots about the punishments they gave out in the olden days. After that, we had a nice lunch in a small underground cafe called 'The crypt' and wandered around in the beautiful sunny weather for a while before we headed off to sandringham. It quite hot in Sandrigham woods and so it was lovely walking through the trees and meadows especially with granddad's dog, Fred, lolloping along beside us!

HALLOWEEN!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all blogers!!! Don't you just love halloween! I think that it's one of the best days in the year...
REASONS WHY HALLOWEEN IS BEST DAY IN THE YEAR:
  • SWEETS!
  • Dressing up in goth clothing
  • Scaring anyone who dares to come near your house...
Anyway, google seem to think that halloween is cool as well- take a look at this awsome video they made for all the excited trickortreaters in the world.
Remember to be careful when lighting your pumkin and try not to terrify people with fake (but very realistic) spiders and bats...

'Grace Kelly' review

Grace Kelly"is a song from MIKA's album Life in a Cartoon Motion. It was recorded in 2006 and released for download on January 9, 2007. The track as number one in the UK Singles Chart for five weeks, and ended 2007 as the year's third biggest-selling single in that country. It was designed to be a mocking satire of musicians who try to reinvent themselves to be popular. The song is titled after Grace Kelly, an Academy Award winning American film and stage actress, and Princess of Monaco. I love this song because it cheers me up when I'm down and always puts a smile on my face. "Grace Kelly" is a glam rock song and is also a good song to dance to. This is a real 'feel good' song that I'm sure you'll love if you like fast, bouncy beats and crazy lyrics.
